Butterfly
effect
The Butterfly Effect Project (BEP) celebrates the unity of immigration and migration stories. In a time where communities are pulled towards division, BEP aims to unearth the roots that connect us all. Creating an interdisciplinary experience will weave together a series of unique personal histories and stories to create a tapestry showcasing the shared way humans move and adapt all over the world, recognizing and respecting that our work exists on indigenous land.
Illuminating
the art of
medicine
Undergraduate and Graduate students and Alumni of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago have been
"Illuminating the Art of Medicine" in the AMA
Journal of Ethics since 2020. This phrase is both the
journal's educational mission and the namesake of a vibrant internship program.
Artists interested in intersections among art, ethics, health, and healthcare exchange ideas and work closely with the journal's editorial staff during 12-week paid terms. SAIC students' and graduates' artistic processes and creative impulses enhance the journal's visual and narrative investigations into how health care is embedded in complex cultural, historical, social, and legal contexts.
This exhibition features the interns original published drawings, paintings, data visualizations, and graphic narratives; they illuminate how healthcare ethics and aesthetics are fraught with a plurality of conflicting values and representational perspectives.
Syrup on

Syrup on Empty Plates is a gallery exhibit centering neurodivergent artists, exploring the themes of living in a world and creating art in a society that prioritizes one kind of brain chemistry over others.
[Julia's] work considers how fantasy can be used as rhetoric in social activism.
This body of work showcases an exploration of media and the unity of text with image. Her work within her upcoming showcase can be described as an “extension” of herself and “intuitive” in nature.
SAIC spring

The 2023 Spring Undergraduate Exhibition features the innovative culminating work of more than 270 SAIC students completing their undergraduate degrees. It is a living example of the crossing of disciplines and challenging of assumptions that SAIC encourages in each student.
